What’s this?

That’s me! Cesar Loayza a.k.a Primitivo. This is my 1st version of a self portrait, next one will have shades and lights and maybe I will give more details to my hair 😊. Check the code: https://editor.p5js.org/prmtivo/sketches/4EFuDAv4Q

Reflections of the process

Computing in my life (right now)

I would like to apply computing on an visual illusion project or something related to light reflection (that also creates optical illusions).

Why?

I’m kind of obsessed with the gap between perception and reality. My interest begun with Andrés Avelino Cáceres, the Andes’s Witcher, who fooled the Chilean’s army back in 1880. Cáceres lacked of soldiers so he dressed hundreds of lamas with uniforms. From a far distance lamas seen like soldiers (a huge army), so Chilean’s soldiers didn’t want to come closer and they retreat. Then I got into Stoic Philosophy that tries to simplify the way we live, because we usually make life complex (a big gap between reality and perception). And finally because right now I’m feeling lonely (I miss my wife and my dog -they are in Perú-) but I know it isn’t the reality (I have a lot of peers whoes I can share time with). I guess that maybe I’m not the only one feeling that so I would like to create something that makes one reflect and take action about the gap between reality and perception in loneliness (I’m reading this book that is helping me to understand “loneliness” through the analysis of other artist works) .

How Computing will help me to achieve this project?

I like that code can make things adaptable, it can vary depending of the inputs. So I would like to make my illusion/light project flexible to each person that interacts with it.
